When you report a bug to us, there's a good chance we'll need your game file(s). This will allow us to load up your game and play from the exact place you last saved.
Please note: You will need to replace 'USERNAME' with your own username.
Location on Windows (Steam & Epic Games Store)
To locate a WINTERMUTE game file:
In Windows File Explorer, go to:
C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Hinterland\TheLongDark
Your WINTERMUTE saves can be found here. You can determine the last save date by the Date modified column.
To locate a SURVIVAL game file:
In Windows File Explorer, go to:
C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Hinterland\TheLongDark\Survival
Your SURVIVAL saves will be titled 'sandbox'. You can determine the last save date by the Date modified column.
Location on Mac/ OSX
To locate a WINTERMUTE game file:
In the Finder menu, select Go/Go To Folder. Copy in this path:
/users/USERNAME/.local/share/Hinterland/TheLongDark

Your save files sync between Xbox and Windows 10+. Just log into the Microsoft Store with your Xbox account, install The Long Dark, and your saves will appear in the folder below:
