When you report a bug to us, there's a good chance we'll need your game file(s). This will allow us to load up your game and play from the exact place you last saved.
Please note: You will need to replace 'USERNAME' with your own username.
Location on Windows (Steam & Epic Games Store)
To locate a WINTERMUTE game file:
In Windows File Explorer, go to:
C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Hinterland\TheLongDarkYour WINTERMUTE saves can be found here. You can determine the last save date by the Date modified column.
Please note that if you are providing the Support Portal with a checkpoint or autosave file, you will also have to provide the associated story file. E.g. "story27" will need to be provided along with "checkpoint27", "story2" will have to be provided with "autosave2", or the checkpoint/autosave file won't load.
To locate a SURVIVAL game file:
In Windows File Explorer, go to:

Location on Xbox/ Windows Play Anywhere
Your save files sync between Xbox and Windows 10+. Just log into the Microsoft Store with your Xbox account, install The Long Dark, and your saves will appear in the folder below:

Please note that due to the way Sony files are encrypted, we are unable to access any player-provided save files from PS4 or PS5 nor advise players on their retrieval.
